Having joined the LWC Catering team as a Food Service Assistant in 2016, Ashley Pyle displayed a desire to broaden her horizons and moved into the role of Sandwich Maker. Not content to stop at this, Ashley – with the support of LWC and in particular Roger Cole (Head Chef) – took on a Commis Chef Level 2 apprenticeship. The monthly trips down to a college in Portsmouth, the countless hours spent perfecting her recipes and the reams of paper required to produce the tome-like folder of evidence to be externally assessed, have all been worth it.

Ashley’s tutor remarked that in the 24 years of her mentoring and working with apprentices, Ashley is the first ever of her students to achieve a Distinction in all four areas of assessment – wow!

Last week, Ashley received her Commis Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship certificate from David James (Deputy Chief Operating Officer) and Iain Hedley (Catering Manager). It was something of a double celebration as it was also Ashley’s birthday! The whole LWC community are extremely proud of her and it is all the more pleasing to see talent and desire being embraced and nurtured within LWC. Thank you to Ashley for all her commitment and hard work.
